At Carne Genuina we have always been committed to reducing the environmental impact of our farm. Ten years ago we installed photovoltaic systems on the roofs of our farm, offsetting 60% of the CO₂ emissions generated by our cattle. In 2021 we adopted a baobab forest in Kenya to absorb the remaining 40% of CO₂. In 2022 we planted bamboo groves in Italy for even greater offsetting. Thanks to these actions, Carne Genuina is now a zero-impact company, committed to environmental sustainability and carbon neutrality.
“You can’t improve what you don’t measure.” (Lord Kelvin)
This year at Carne Genuina we have chosen to combine CO2 compensation with the improvement of the biodiversity of our lands, through:
- the implementation of the invaluable country hedges;
- the adoption of technologies that allow improvements to be measured.
That's why we selected EcoCanto's advanced technology to measure and improve biodiversity in our farm's soils.
How does Ecocanto work?
EcoCanto is an innovative technology that uses bioacoustic sensors to monitor and analyze the sounds of nature, such as birds singing or other environmental signals. This sound data is then processed by artificial intelligence algorithms, which recognize the species present and evaluate the biodiversity of the monitored area. Basically, the more different birdsongs our device records, the greater the biodiversity of the monitored area.
The technology is used in sustainability and environmental conservation projects to ensure responsible management of biodiversity and provide detailed information for environmental conservation and management.
Thanks to EcoCanto's bioacoustic sensors, we can now non-invasively monitor the presence of animal species in our lands and objectively measure the impact of our sustainable practices . This choice allows us to collect valuable data on the ecosystem, promoting more conscious and targeted environmental management. EcoCanto represents an important step towards more accurate and scientific monitoring of biodiversity.
Help us improve the biodiversity of our hedgerows!
To support our project and further increase biodiversity on our land, we offer the possibility of adopting one of the following trees: Mulberry, Plane, Lime and Pauwlonia . Each tree planted not only helps improve the natural habitat for many animal species, but also helps capture CO₂, improve soil quality and promote a more balanced ecosystem. By adopting one of these trees, you can actively contribute to the conservation of biodiversity and support our commitment to more sustainable agriculture.
